Water on stone SERIES
Water on Stone (2011) is a series of five felted works expressing experiences an individual could have from a single location on the edge of the ocean.
Through the integration of location sound, video and contemporary dance, the series engages the audience through multiple senses.
The series celebrates our connection with the sea and what is recalled when we are in its presence. The repetitive actions and muscle memory of the processes of felting and dance parallel rhythms and movements of the ocean at the centre of the artistic exploration.
It is an homage to the variety of experiences that can be had within a small territory, to a life lived with the rhythm and repetition of the constant - and constantly changing - ocean’s edge.
