cradle
Floor carpet // Wool, silk, electronics, soundscape // 107”x64”
Cradle (2014/2015) was created for the exhibition Wild, Pure, Aesthetic Wonder celebrating Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Inspired by the sights and sounds of the Tablelands in Gros Morne National Park, the work is an immersive textile installation.
This felted floor carpet engages the viewer through location soundscape triggered by wandering across its surface. It is instrumented with a polyphonic audio control board and 14 pressure switches, each activating a different sound collected within the park.
